Brian Akers has recently been vigorously spewing his anti-McKenna venom at the Talk page at Wikipedia. Brian is so amusing.

I checked your link. Isn't this classed as Wiki 'vandalism'. I feel very concerned for Brian - are you sure he isn't mentally handicapped?

I feel very sorry for him.

Petty bickering over the wording of TM's wikipedia article (which will exist long after we are gone) shouldn't concern Monsieur Meyer.

Is this the same guy?

If so - What's the history between him and Mckenna?

Vandalism normally only occurs on the Article pages, not the Talk pages. Brian's messing up the page was, I suspect, simply due to incompetence (or he was stoned at the time).

I feel very concerned for Brian - are you sure he isn't mentally handicapped?

Well, perhaps, but not mentally ill, just strange. He and Terence both wrote about psychedelic mushrooms, Brian has some academic connections (which he believes makes him respectable) and Terence never did (which Brian believes makes him unworthy of respect). Terence was and still is wildly popular and Brian is not, so I think it's just a case of envy, and Brian doesn't have the sense to shut up.

Petty bickering over the wording of TM's wikipedia article (which will exist long after we are gone) shouldn't concern Monsieur Meyer.

I don't believe he sees it as "petty bickering". IIRC his defense of Terence as an 'ethnobotanist' hardly mentions Brian, but rather criticizes someone else's removal of this characterization of Terence -- a great injustice. WP editors wish to minimize Terence's significance, so I think it's good not to let the bastards get away with this.

Wow. I've lampooned Brian Akers before (but I've always welcomed him here - unlike Jan Irvin he hasn't threatened to stab anyone).

But I wasn't aware of how obsessed he'd become with Terence Mckenna. I think the word is 'bonkers'.

If it's any consolation foxfire, Mckenna's legacy will probably be decided long after you, I and Brian are long forgotten.

There, I've cleaned it up a little (removed Brian's superfluous rants about 'the cult of Mckenna').

Let's see how long he can hold his tongue.

Days? Hours...?

Thanks Zarquon. Brian Akers' obsession with 'exposing' McKenna as a 'fake' actually has the effect of bringing more people to read/see McKenna, thereby gaining exposure to McKenna's radical ideas, thus defeating Brian's purpose. The contrast between McKenna's erudite and captivating discourse and Brian's pompous raving quickly reveals that Brian is full of shit. Are you listening, Brian? Can you ever learn?
